Data Analyst

About the Role

Our Group's Data & Analytics team is looking for an analyst focusing on revenue and product analytics who can access first and third party data, use statistical tools and programming languages to analyze it and tell a story with it: Interpret the data, gain insights, make recommendations to optimize user experience and revenue streams, and communicate that in a clear and concise way.
Responsibilities include:
  • Access, interpret, and disseminate data to optimize UX and new revenue streams.
  • Create and deliver regular reporting and insights that reinforce KPIs.
  • Communicate complex ideas in a clear, precise, accessible way.

Skills:

  • Positive, results-oriented self starter with the ability to interact effectively across multiple teams and senior management
  • Ability to analyze raw data, identify trend drivers, draw conclusions and summarize actionable recommendations
  • Detail-oriented and meticulously organized, comfortable aggregating and manipulating large data sets
  • Advanced Excel
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics/Omniture/social data
  • Experience in SQL/R/Python a plus
  • A/B testing and optimization planning a plus

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree; major in business, mathematics, statistics, economics, marketing preferred but all are considered
  • 2-4 years of experience with web analytics, and passion for media

Data Scientist

About the Role

FMG is looking for someone who can use statistical tools to analyze its digital site, advertising and commerce data and tell a story with it: Interpret the data, gain insights, and make recommendations to grow efficiencies (by optimizing manual tasks), revenue, our audience and engagement.  

Position responsibilities (3-7 years of professional/academic experience):

  • Multi-task and work in a fast paced and changing digital media environment.
  • Collaborate closely with different functional teams across the organization such as Editorial, E-commerce, Data Engineers and Product to identify opportunities for leveraging company data as well as implement solutions and monitor outcomes.
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
  • Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes.
  • Think critically to identify key metrics and track them using various analytics and ad reporting tools.
  • Work with Data Engineering to create dashboards: Python, Flask, HTML, Bootstrap, CSS, JavaScript, d3.js, Git (version control), BASH (a plus).
  • Query & analyze data: SQL, excel & pivot table mastery.
  • Data analysis, visualization & predictive modeling: Python (incl. pandas, scikit-learn), R (incl. ggplot2), Redshift/BigQuery/SQL-like language, Hadoop/Spark/other ‘big data’ framework is a plus.
  • Experience with the following tools is a plus: Google Analytics, DFP, Moat, multivariate testing tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of tag management systems is a plus
  • Advertising and media experience is a plus

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Data Science, Communications, Marketing
  • Graduate degree strongly preferred
